Loading Instructions for Perfect Software Payroll 2001 Version 8.6

 NOTE: The installation uses a default directory of C:\Perfect.  If you are not using the default, you must know where you will be loading the program prior to the installation.  If you do not know where your existing program is loaded, run Payroll, and go to ”HELP”, “TECHNICAL HELP”, and look under PROGRAM.  Otherwise the system will use the default directory and it won’t find your existing data.

Payroll Version 8.6 includes exciting new features:

Ø       Access to previous year’s data: Allows you to review data from year 1999 and 2000 automatically.  Upon entering the Payroll program you can choose 1999, 2000, or 2001 Payroll by clicking on “Files”, “Open Year”, and select the year to review from the pick box. This box will only display prior years if you have processed payroll using the Windows version.  
**To Print the DE7 for year 2000, select year 2000 and click on "Year End" , "DE7".**

Ø       Direct Deposit: Provides your employees with a more secure, reliable and time-saving means of getting their pay to their bank accounts, by transferring funds directly from the employer bank account to the savings, or checking account of the employee.  Refer to the on line help manual for more information.

Ø       Web Hyperlinks: It gives you quick access to our Web Site for faster program updates and other useful links as well.  ( Internet access must be available from you computer) 

  Installation: 
    
Installing from a CD ROM:

1.     Insert CD and wait for the “auto-run” program to initialize (this may take a few seconds).  If it doesn’t start automatically go to the next step.

2.      Click on  “Start” and select  “Run”.

3.      Type D:\setup.exe in the “Command Line” field and then click on     “Ok” to continue. (replace D:\ with the appropriate drive designation)

4.     Follow the instructions on the screen to install the program.  You    will be asked for the target destination (drive and sub-directory), you must know this to install the program in the correct place especially if you have existing data.

5.        To run the program just double click on the new Payroll 8.6 icon that was created on your desktop.  Please delete your old icon. (Select icon and press the delete key.)

     INSTALLING FROM THE WEB:
             1.     Double click on "Download Payroll 2001Update (Ver.8.6).

2.     Select default of "Save this program to disk".  Then under "Save in" click on the down     arrow and select "Desktop".  Click on Save.  This will save your Pay2001.exe to your Desktop.

3.     Look for the new icon created on your Desktop (Pay2001.exe), Double click on it,  and follow the instructions on the screen to install the program.  You will be asked for the target destination (drive and sub-directory), you must know this to install the program in the correct place especially if you have existing data.

4       To run the program just double click on the new Payroll 8.6 icon that was created on your desktop.  Please delete your old icon.  (Select icon and press the delete key.)

The new program will automatically copy all of the 2000 data files to a new sub-directory called PERPAY00.    A DOS screen will appear and you will see the files being copied to the new sub-directory.  When it is complete click on the X in the upper right hand corner of the DOS screen to return to the program.

Important:  
When you enter the 2001 Payroll you must go through the configuration (“Files”, “Change Configuration”) to accept the 2001 tax rates.  Also, you must reset balances to zero prior to calculating your first payroll in 2001.   To reset select “Year-End”, “Close the Year and Reset Balances to 0”.  If you use Vacation/ Holiday/Sick Time you must also reset those to zero.  If you use the Multi -Company version of Payroll you must do this step for each entity.

Technical Support

Our Technical Support policy requires that your company subscribe to our Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP). Please check with your Perfect Software representative if you think you will need support and are not currently on the AMP.

 

Should you require assistance installing Payroll please have the following information available:

1.  Please know the name of the sub-directory in which your Payroll programs and data currently reside.

2.  Please document the sequence of steps that generated the error message/problem (if any).

 

Operational Notes

The installation program will not erase any existing data on your hard drive. 
You must register your new Version 8.6 Payroll within 30 days of the original installation date by calling 626-445-9700, and providing the Key Code generated by your computer to a Perfect Software representative.
